Do I have to go to court?

If the person abusing you is charged with abuse you and other witnesses may have to go to Court to give evidence explaining what had happened. The DVD of the Interview will be used in Court, but you may also have to answer some question for the Sheriff or defence solicitor (the solicitor that is talking for the person who has been charged with abusing you) There are always special arrangements made for you to give evidence and you will not be in the same room as your abuser. Mostly you will be in a room somewhere safe in the Court, and there will be a video link for you to give evidence.

There are people you can help support you if you do need to go to Court and your social worker will explain this all to you and give you more information or you can check  Young Witness Support or Child Witness Support for a bit more information.
